Puppy training in Melbourne – calm, practical help from the start

Bringing a new puppy home is exciting — but it can also feel overwhelming very quickly.

If your puppy is:

  • nipping or biting

  • not settling

  • toileting inconsistently

  • chewing everything

  • crying when left alone

  • difficult to manage

You’re not alone.

With the right guidance early on, you can prevent many of these problems from becoming long-term issues.

A different approach to puppy training

Most puppy schools focus on basic obedience and social play.

What they don’t usually cover is leadership — and that’s one of the most important parts of raising a calm, well-behaved dog.

My approach is based on calm, clear leadership from the very beginning.

This helps your puppy understand:

  • how to settle

  • how to respond to you

  • what is expected of them in your home

When this is in place early, everything else becomes much easier.

What I help you with

TOILETING AND HOUSE TRAINING

Getting toileting right early makes a big difference.

I’ll show you how to:

  • set up a clear routine

  • reduce accidents

  • help your puppy understand where to go

NIPPING, BITING AND OVEREXCITEMENT

Puppies naturally explore with their mouths, but this can quickly become a problem.

I’ll guide you on how to:

  • reduce biting and nipping

  • manage overexcitement

  • create calmer behaviour in the home

CHEWING AND DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOUR

Chewing furniture, shoes, and household items is very common.

I’ll show you how to:

  • prevent unwanted chewing

  • manage your puppy’s environment

  • guide them toward calmer behaviour

PREVENTING SEPARATION ANXIETY

This is one of the most important parts of early puppy training.

Separation anxiety often develops when a puppy becomes too dependent or unsure when left alone.

This is very much a leadership exercise.

I’ll show you how to:

  • help your puppy feel secure when alone

  • build independence gradually

  • prevent long-term anxiety issues

NIGHT-TIME ROUTINES AND SETTLING

Many puppies struggle to settle at night.

I’ll help you set up:

  • a calm evening routine

  • clear expectations

  • a more settled night for both you and your puppy

EARLY LEAD WALKING AND RESPONSIVENESS

It’s important to start things correctly from the beginning.

I’ll guide you through:

  • early loose-lead walking

  • helping your puppy stay connected to you

  • building good habits before problems develop

TEACHING RECALL (COMING WHEN CALLED)

Recall is one of the most important things your puppy will learn. I focus on building a strong connection between you and your puppy, so they want to come back to you and be with you, rather than needing to be called repeatedly.

SOCIALISATION (DONE PROPERLY)

Socialisation is often misunderstood.

It’s not just about letting your puppy meet lots of dogs.

Done incorrectly, it can actually create problems.

I’ll explain to you how to:

  • introduce your puppy to new environments calmly

  • build confidence without overstimulation

  • avoid common socialisation mistakes

What happens in a puppy session

I come to your home and work with you and your puppy in your everyday environment.

This makes everything practical and easy to continue after I leave.

You’ll come away with:

  • a clear understanding of what to do

  • simple, effective strategies

  • more confidence handling your puppy

Starting off the right way

The early weeks and months make a big difference.

With the right structure and guidance, your puppy can grow into a calm, well-behaved dog — and you can avoid many of the common problems people struggle with later.

HAPPY DOG OWNERS

"Angela was a miracle worker! We called her for a multitude of issues with our Jack Russell Terrier and watching his behaviour change over the course of the session was incredible.

Angela was incredibly patient and kind and helped us change our mindset to understand our dog’s needs better. I couldn’t believe the change in our pup after our session!"

Indiana Logozzo

"We had Angela come to help with our 10-month-old golden retriever, Bromley, and we’ve been blown away by how well he has responded to her training.

Angela brings compassion, positivity, and a gentle nature into every session. Her approach is non-invasive, easy to follow, and completely different from what I’d always been told.

I had struggled with treat-based training since Bromley isn’t food-motivated, but Angela showed us how to build leadership without relying on treats—and it’s been a game changer.

It’s only been a day since she came, and Bromley is already calmer and not jumping as much.

I can’t recommend Angela enough. Thank you, Angela!"
